This gallery of plant photographs has been put together by Rob Haines, a keen amateur gardener based in Oxfordshire, UK.  

It is an eclectic mix of the common and the unusual photographed by somebody who loves plants and who simply aims to make more plant pictures freely available to internet users.  The gallery will continue to be added to from time to time.

The photographs are presented in alphabetical order by name. This consists of:

• the botanical plant name (but without italics and quotation marks etc.);  
• 'AGM' if the plant has the RHS Award of Garden Merit; 
• location where the photograph taken (abbreviations used: 'OBG' - Oxford Botanic Garden; 'Wisley' - RHS Gardens Wisley, Surrey; 'Kew' - Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew; 'FH' and 'WR' - my gardens in Oxfordshire); 
• the date the photograph was taken (format YYMMDD). 

Wherever possible the plant names given have been verified using the Royal Horticultural Society's Horticultural Database.  I cannot accept any responsibility for naming or identification errors.  Photographs are used at your own risk.

You may use copies of these images free of charge for personal or educational use and provided it is not for commercial gain.  All that I ask is that you acknowledge where they come from and that you do not try to pass them off as your own.  If you plan to use a photograph it would be great to know - please drop me a line at the email address given at the top of this page.  

All photographs were taken by myself and I retain the copyright.  If you wish to use an image for commercial purposes please contact me at the email address at the top of this page.  It may be possible to supply higher resolution versions without the border and copyright statement, particularly for more recent images.
